About Calhoun and Gordon County Georgia

Calhoun is a charming town in Gordon County, located in northwestern Georgia, just a short distance from Atlanta. Calhoun's history is tied closely to the Cherokee Indian Nation, and as such it hosts such historic places as the New Echota Historic Site, which was the capital of the Cherokee Nation during the 1800s. The Salacoa Creek Park is also close by, where you can enjoy fishing, swimming, and boating, as well as seeing restored Cherokee buildings and the museum.

A Prime Outlet Mall is located in Calhoun for shopping enthusiasts, filled with over 50 different factory outlet stores including Ralph Lauren, Liz Claiborne, Old Navy, Gymboree, and Nike, just to name a few. There are also some antique stores nearby for those antique hounds.

For those interested in the arts, you can visit the Harris Arts Center, where you'll find the Calhoun Little Theatre, Community Chorus, Visual Arts Guild, Music Guild, Literary Arts Guild, Roland Hayes Museum, and educational and community outreach programs.
